UPDATE : *THIS GROUP IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW MEMBERSHIPS. I WILL BE STARTING A NEW GROUP DOWN THE TRACK. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR NAME AND CONTACT DETAILS BELOW TO BE ADDED TO OUR WAITING LIST.*
Did you have a penpal when you were a child? I have wonderful memories of the letters I sent and received during my childhood – many of them I’ve kept. In this technological age we live in, the art of writing a letter seems to be getting lost, and I for one am determined to not let them happen. Well not in our household anyway.
Lately I’ve noticed a bit of a resurgence in letter writing / snail mail / happy mail / penpals – call it what you will. And I am a little bit excited about it.
So I’ve decided to start my own snail mail group. Would you like to join me?
Simply contact me via the contact form at the bottom of this page and pass on your email address. I will contact you privately and get your postal address details and then provide you with a number of names and addresses. You can decide who you would like to contact (as many or as few as you’d like) and how often you’d like to contact them. I will also add your name to our contact list for you to be a recipient. What you do is up to you. You can send little packages of goodies or just a nice pen pal letter. I have some great products in my shop – Sew Crafty Living – that would be suitable for snail mail from stationery to washi tape and stickers, envelope templates to make your own, stamps and inks, and little bitty zakka style gift items. I also have a snail mail subscription service, where you can receive a surprise package in the mail each month. Or just purchase a one off kit. You can have a read of my snail mail blog posts to find ideas, pictures, tutorials and loads of other snail mail related stuff.
I’d love you to join us. You’ll meet some pretty cool, like-minded folk and get a chance to hone your letter writing skills and maybe even practice a bit of calligraphy. Here are some pretty images to get you excited.
