I love working with felt. It is a relatively newly discovered craft for me. But I am totally hooked. For one, it is very forgiving. If you make a mistake you can just cut around it. It’s super quick and easy to create amazing pieces. There are so many colours and variations available. And best of all you can use it for all sorts of applications – from jewellery to home decor pieces. Lately I’ve been making a lot of jewellery, which has been loads of fun. But I’d like to show you some more felty goodness that I’ve been working on.
Recently I was asked to make a piece for a friend for a giveaway on her blog – Carly Findlay from Tune Into Radio Carly. I thought I might try something new. I’ve been wanting to make a statement wall banner piece for my own home for ages now. So I thought this was the perfect opportunity to experiment. I knew what I wanted it to say – “BE AWESOME”. It’s my new mantra. Each day I wake up and this is the first thing I say / think.
I also love making felt flowers. I’ve made them a lot for kid’s headbands, wreaths, brooches, that kind of thing. However I had the idea to add them to my wall hanging. I wanted to stick to a monochrome theme with a pop of neon. So here it is. I love it! I’m going to make many more with different statements. I’ve popped this one on to my online shop and also my Etsy shop.
Have you tried working with felt? Would love to hear your stories.
