Every year during a weekend in mid May our little township holds our annual art festival – the Tall Trees Art Exhibition. And every year it seems to be bigger and better than the previous year. And every year I have every intention of submitting something and leave it too late. Ah well, there’s always next year.
This year was full on. Not only was the artwork at the exhibition absolutely amazing and inspiring for such a small community but there was a series of art workshops held in our new art workspace (which happens to be located in the same building as my shop). So after getting inspired by art you were able to wander down the street to participate in some art making. We had life drawing classes, a community rainbow flag, natural fibre art. What a weekend it was. So many visitors from all over the country. My shop was buzzing. And the artwork this year was truly mind boggling. We have so many talented artists and creatives in this little hinterland area. It is quite astounding really. There was watercolour, oils, sculpture, an art installation, photography, found object sculptures, lead light and fibre art. There were interactive pieces and talks by the artists and live music.
Here are some pics from the workshops:

At the end of the day my girls and I felt so inspired we got out the paints and pens and created our own artwork. Next year I promise I will enter something.
I feel it’s so important to support artists and creatives. Do you enjoy going to local art exhibitions?
