A New Year means new ideas, fresh starts, motivation and enthusiasm. Welcome to my new blog and website. I’ve been working on this for some time now. I wanted a space that incorporated both my blog and my website all in the one place. My new shop here will be a showcase for my designs, kits and subscription packages. More about that later. I am still tweaking it and there are many items to add to the shop. You can still visit my online shop : www.sewcrafytliving.com for all of my other products. And to celebrate I am holding a giveaway contest with a subscription pack as the prize. You can enter here. Anyway late last year I started a snail mail group : Sew Crafty Snail Mail. I am so excited about this as it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
So here’s a bit of an update. I started this snail mail group and it’s growing slowly but of course I’d love more members. You can contact me via our snail mail contact page to get all the details. Basically I have a private list of all our members and from this list you can choose as few or as many people to contact as you’d like. I wanted to keep it easy and fun, and to build up a group of different people with different interests. So, the more the merrier. If you like connecting with people, writing, decorating, making things look pretty and faffing about then this is for you. It really is a lot of fun and so great to connect with like-minded peeps.
I’m going to do a regular update of our snail mail activities right here on my new blog. I will posts ideas on what to write, what to put in your snail mail packages, decorating ideas and cute little things you can make. These posts will be featured on our Facebook page as well.
Another thing I am very excited about is our new snail mail/stationery and craft subscription packages. If you subscribe you will receive a package in the mail every month full of either snail mail and stationery goodies or craft goodies or if you’d like, both. The pack will be varied and will include hand sourced items that I’m sure you will love. You can choose a one, three, six or 12 month subscription.
Today in my new blog space I’m going to share some snail mail bits and bobs with you. I’ve discovered these exciting blogs and websites that are dedicated to snail mail.
The Happy Mail Project – this closed group was started by the fabulous Ishtar Olivera. She is a champion of happy mail and kawaii cuteness. I find everything she does so inspirational. This is a great place to pop in to for mail art ideas. It has been inactive for a little while but there is still some great stuff there from old posts and wonderful links to the participants. Ishtar has a blog that showcases her own artwork and mail art.
Papered Thoughts – Rin Dawson is the Queen of Snail Mail. I’m pretty sure she’s not accepting new penpals but again it’s a great space for inspiration. Plus you’ll find loads of great links.
Dear Sincerely – Follow Rob and his awesome mail art.
Boheme Circus – Celine is one of the Happy Mail Project team. She has a love of all things paper, so not only will you find some beautiful snail mail art but she’s also into journalling, planners, diaries, collages and scrapbooking. I am a huge fan of her work.
Snail Mail Love – beautiful Fab with her amazing illustrations and her enthusiasm for snail mail will win you over. Also known as Wreck This Girl. Her hand drawn illustrations are to die for and a snail mailers dream.
You’ll find links to many, many more over at Papered Thoughts. Be warned though, you could lose an entire day ogling the beauty and talent out there.
I follow these Instagram accounts :
And if you follow my Pinterest board there are loads of links to others from there:
Next week I will showcase some great tutorials and ideas for calligraphy and hand lettering.
Thanks for popping in to my new space. I hope you like it. Feedback is always appreciated.
I would love you to join our fab little snail mail group. Let’s get to know each other. Are you in a penpal group already or would you like to join one?
